Cellular Data Resources @ the Chicago Police Training Academy

In this two day, hands on session, you will be given a crime to investigate and a set of Call Detail Records for your suspect. Call Detail Records (CDRs) are the non-voice records of every phone call a cell phone makes or receives. You will learn to read and analyze the records and to plot the records onto a map. The course ends with you presenting your completed analysis to the rest of the class. Mapping Software is Included, but you need to bring your own laptop with Word and Excel.

This highly specialized two-day forensics workshop will teach you how to recover, process, and remove sensitive data stored on the iPhone, iPhone 3G, and iPod Touch. Led by author and data forensics expert Jonathan Zdziarski, this workshop will help you:
- Determine what kind of evidence is stored on the device
- Prepare an environment for iPhone forensics
- Break v1.x and v2.x passcode-protected iPhones to gain access to the device
- Build a custom recovery toolkit for the iPhone
- Interrupt iPhone 3G's "secure wipe" process
- Conduct data recovery of a v1.x and v2.x iPhone user disk partition, and preserve and recover the entire raw user disk partition
- Recover deleted voicemail, images, email, and other personal data using data carving techniques
- Recover geotagged metadata from camera photos
- Discover Google map lookups, typing cache, and other data stored on the live file system
- Extract contact information and other data from the iPhone's database
- Collect desktop trace and establish trusted relationships to owners' desktops
- Use different recovery strategies based on case needs

Advanced techniques in Forensic Examination of Smartphones and Cell Phones with Oxygen Forensic Suite 2

This one-day course is devised to teach novice or experienced mobile phone examiners and forensic analysts how to use all the advanced features of Oxygen Forensic Suite software. You will learn how to extract the maximum of cell phone information using plain cables and Bluetooth adapters, what additional forensic data can be extracted from smartphones and how to identify geographical coordinates of phone events (sent/received SMS messages, camera snapshots etc).
The devices covered by the training are:

Ride the Blue Line to the Chicago Police Training Academy
From the O'Hare Marriott take the Blue Line at the Cumberland Stop.
Ride the Blue Line to the Racine Stop.
This will take you through the downtown area and then start out West of the loop.
You need to get off at the Racine Stop, from there walk North for about a block to a block and a half.
Then walk West on Jackson Blvd for a block to the Chicago Police Training Academy.
